My Story
The time that I won the Burt.com Bowl was one of the greatest moments of my life. I won it by almost double of what the other teams score was. Towards the beginning of the game I had my doubts.
My friends and family were all there cheering me on trying to help me out, and before the game started I thought what if I let them down what if I screw up. Then we kicked off for the other team to receive then they sprinted it all the way back for a touchdown and their parents start screaming and our team just lost a lot of energy in that part of the game. I thought that wow this team is excellent. Then the first quarter just kept getting worse and worse. At the end of the first quarter the score was 24 to 0.
After we all got yelled at because of the way we were playing we came out with a lot more intensity. Once the quarter was over we didn’t let them score because we were tired of getting yelled at and we came back. The score at half time was 18 to 24 because we were not allowed to kick field goals back then because of our age.
Once the 3rd quarter started we came back at them with some of the own medicine and scored on the kickoff return. But no one could score towards the middle of that quarter because it was a long quarter and we were all really tired but we didn’t give up so we kept going at it when they didn’t have much juice left in their bodies. After that we kept taking it to them on offense and not letting them score on defense so at the end of the quarter we were up 36 to 24.
Then the last quarter of the game we came out with a bunch of intensity and we scored in the first few plays. Then we were up 42 to 24 with not that much time left in the game and I even saw some of the other teams parents leaving I don’t know if it was for something else or if we just beat the other team too badly. My team the mustangs and the other team the orange hawks kept pushing and pushing and pulling and pulling trying to get a few more points up on the score board but we just couldn’t put them up their so the final score of the game was Mustangs 42 to hawks 24.
After the game ended we went to the top of the stands and got our picture taken with a trophy that was 4 ft 6inches tall it was huge compared to me at the time because of how tall I was when I was that age. After we were named the best team in the state and tried to keeps it going the next year. But we couldn’t because all of the other teams hit a growth spurt or something and suddenly we were the smallest team in the league with the biggest hearts and almost did it again the next year.

Queston: What is your advice for people who are just starting playing football or want to take an interest in the sport?
o You should take up the sport it will teach you discipline and it is a great sport also if you want to become more fit.
